    Jackson Chourio Bio

Jackson Bryan Chourio is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Born on March 11, 2004, he made his MLB debut in 2024 and quickly established himself as one of baseball’s most exciting young players. In his rookie season, he finished with a 20-20 season and became a key contributor for the Brewers.

    Early Life and Background

Jackson Bryan Chourio was born on March 11, 2004, and grew up in Venezuela, a country with a deep tradition of producing Major League talent. From an early age, he was immersed in the baseball culture of his homeland, which has produced generations of big-league outfielders and middle-of-the-order hitters. His family nurtured his athletic development, and his younger brother, Jaison Chourio, is also pursuing a professional career, currently playing within the Cleveland Guardians organization.

Chourio’s path to professional baseball was accelerated by his obvious physical tools and baseball instincts. As a teenager, he attracted attention from international scouts evaluating Venezuelan prospects. He signed with the Milwaukee Brewers as an international free agent on January 15, 2021, receiving a $1.9 million signing bonus, one of the more notable bonuses handed out to a Latin American amateur that year.

    Path to Professional Baseball

Following his signing, Chourio made his professional debut in 2021 with the Dominican Summer League Brewers. He impressed immediately, slashing .296/.386/.447 across 45 games with five home runs and 25 runs batted in. The strong debut confirmed the Brewers’ evaluation and set the stage for a rapid climb through the minor leagues.

In 2022, Chourio began the year with the Single-A Carolina Mudcats, where he batted .324/.373/.600 with 12 home runs, earning the Carolina League Most Valuable Player award and the league’s Top MLB Prospect Award. He also earned a 2022 MiLB Gold Glove as one of the three-best defensive outfielders in the minor leagues. Later that season, he played for the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and finished the year with the Class AA Biloxi Shuckers, becoming the youngest player at the Double-A level.

    Jackson Chourio Career

    Minor League Development (2021-2023)

Chourio spent 2023 at Double-A Biloxi, where he was assigned to begin the year. Entering the season as baseball’s sixth-best prospect, he became the highest-ranked Brewers prospect since Orlando Arcia in 2016 and was later named baseball’s top prospect by Baseball America. He was also selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game in June 2023. Across 122 games with the Shuckers, he batted .280/.336/.467 with 22 home runs, 89 runs batted in, and 41 stolen bases, becoming the first Double-A player to hit 20 home runs and steal 40 bases since 2005. His 89 runs batted in set a Biloxi single-season record, and in September 2023 he was promoted to Triple-A Nashville.

Milwaukee Brewers and MLB Debut (2024-Present)

On December 4, 2023, the Brewers signed Jackson Bryan Chourio to an eight-year contract worth $82 million with club options for the 2032 and 2033 seasons. At the time, it was the largest contract given to a player who had not yet reached the major leagues, surpassing the six-year, $50 million deal given to Luis Robert Jr. in 2020. He made his MLB debut on Opening Day of the 2024 season as the youngest player on any MLB roster.

On April 3, 2024, Chourio hit his first career MLB home run off Daniel Duarte of the Minnesota Twins. After a slow first two months in which he batted .207 with an on-base percentage near .250, he adjusted his approach and batted .305 the rest of the season. On September 12, 2024, against the San Francisco Giants, he hit his 20th home run of the year, becoming the youngest player in MLB history, at 20 years and 185 days, to record a 20-20 season. He joined Vada Pinson and Mike Trout as the only players to reach that mark in their age-20 season. He finished his rookie year hitting .275 with 21 home runs, 22 stolen bases, 80 runs scored, and 79 runs batted in, placing third in National League Rookie of the Year voting behind Paul Skenes and Jackson Merrill.

    2025 Season

In 2025, Chourio put together a 20-game hitting streak from July 2 to July 27, batting .392 with seven doubles and four home runs during that span. His season average climbed from .250 to .276 over the streak. A lingering hamstring injury cost him playing time in August, limiting him to 131 games. He finished the regular season with a .270 average, 21 home runs, 88 runs scored, 78 runs batted in, and 21 stolen bases.

Chourio was a central figure in the Brewers’ 2025 postseason run. In Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Chicago Cubs, he sparked a six-run rally with a leadoff double and capped it with a two-run single, then added an RBI infield single before reinjuring his hamstring. He returned in Game 2 to hit a three-run home run in a 7-3 win, and the Brewers won the series 3-2, with Chourio batting .389 and driving in six runs. The Brewers were then swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, where Chourio batted .200 with one home run.

    Notable Events and Milestones

During the 2024 National League Wild Card Series against the New York Mets, Chourio hit two home runs in a single game, one of them a game-tyaring shot, becoming the second under-21 player to accomplish that feat after Andruw Jones in the 1996 World Series. It was the first time since Babe Ruth in the 1928 World Series that a player hit two game-tying home runs in a postseason series, and his first-inning leadoff homer made him the youngest player to hit a leadoff home run in a postseason game.
