Fans of the Jurassic World franchise may see Chris Pratt back in action as Velociraptor expert Owen Grady, despite his character’s intended final role in Dominion. Pratt recently discussed the possibility of returning during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz, expressing openness to teaming up with Scarlett Johansson‘s character, Zora Bennett, from Jurassic World Rebirth. This potential collaboration hints at future developments for the series.
Pratt shared his thoughts on the matter, saying,
“That’d be awesome. I love that character, I love the team, I love Universal, [and] I love Scarlett. I think that would be epic. We’d just have to do it in a way that honors the stories that we told the first three times.”

Jurassic World Rebirth Introduces a New Chapter for the Franchise
Jurassic World Rebirth, written by David Koepp—known for his work on Jurassic Park and The Lost World—and directed by Gareth Edwards, redirected the franchise’s storyline. Executive producer Steven Spielberg was involved in crafting this soft reboot, which discarded the notion of dinosaurs living openly alongside humans on the mainland. Instead, the film centers on a remote island teeming with colossal, dangerous creatures.
In this new setting, Zora Bennett, a mercenary skilled in covert operations, is tasked by pharmaceutical executive Martin Krebs, played by Rupert Friend, to collect rare DNA samples from creatures across land, air, and sea, driving the plot forward with tense, high-stakes missions.

“We wanted a film that felt like a fresh start while remaining in the world of the previous films,”
he said.
“We continue to develop the idea that ‘life finds a way’ with a different kind of story that combines heist-movie adventure with creature-feature horror. We have new characters, a new setting, and new dinosaurs, some of which have gone very, very bad. At the same time, what I find exciting about Rebirth is that it finds a tone that harkens back to the original Jurassic Park. And that has a lot to do with the creative team we assembled for this one.”

Financial Performance and Future of the Jurassic Franchise
While Jurassic World Rebirth received mixed reviews from critics, it still amassed nearly $870 million globally, underscoring the franchise’s continued box office appeal. However, compared to previous Colin Trevorrow-directed entries that each surpassed the $1 billion mark, Rebirth’s earnings fell short of those blockbuster milestones.
Rumors about an eighth installment are already circulating, even though the studio has not officially confirmed any plans. Given Jurassic World’s massive success as an intellectual property, it’s expected that the series will continue to evolve and release new content to sustain fan interest and revenue growth.
The potential return of Chris Pratt alongside Scarlett Johansson could signal fresh storytelling possibilities that honor the existing legacy while exploring new directions for the iconic dinosaur saga.
