Chris Hemsworth has openly discussed his choice to leave Los Angeles and move back to Australia, describing it as the greatest decision he has made. The actor explained that despite Hollywood‘s allure, he did not find happiness living in LA, prompting him to prioritize his family’s well-being by relocating to a large farm in his home country.
Reasons Behind Hemsworth’s Move from Hollywood
On the podcast SmartLess, Hemsworth revealed that the move coincided with the birth of his children, saying,
“It was right around the time my boys were born, and it was just, we kind of were set up in LA and not enjoying it, you know? Like nothing was shooting there. We were filming kind of everywhere else.”
He added,
“And then … you’d come home and paparazzi and all the sort of trappings of, you know, living in that space,”
emphasizing how the lifestyle in LA weighed heavily on him.
Building a Life in Australia Away from the Spotlight
Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky, chose to settle on a spacious farm in Australia to enjoy a more relaxed environment. He explained,
“You know, when you come back from work, you wanna go on a holiday? Like coming home for me is – it feels like a holiday. We have a big farm, horses, motorbikes and surf.”
Hemsworth’s Children and Their View of His Hollywood Fame
Speaking at the world premiere of his film Crime 101 in Los Angeles on February 10, Hemsworth shared his children’s perspective on his career. He remarked,
“They don’t care. They don’t care at all.”
The actor noted that his kids were initially impressed by his role as Thor but soon lost some of that excitement, saying,
“I reckon when they first realized I was Thor, they thought it was really cool. And then they realized they couldn’t fly, and they thought it was less cool.”
What Hemsworth’s Departure Means for His Future
Chris Hemsworth’s decision to leave LA for Australia reflects a deep desire to escape the pressures of celebrity life and create a peaceful environment for his family.
