His mother was born Jewish to a family from Poland and Russia, and his father converted to Judaism, bringing German, English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry to the family. They married on March 14, 2006, in Big Sur, California, and have two sons born in 2006 and 2008. Although Black identifies as an atheist, he has chosen to raise his children in the Jewish faith, influenced by his experience as a father.
