    Keith McGee Bio

Keith Edward McGee (born May 7, 1981) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the Nos. 2 and 22 Ford F-150 entries for Reaume Brothers Racing. He has also previously competed in what is now the ARCA Menards Series West.

McGee previously served in the United States Air Force for eight years and is widely recognized as the first Alaskan and the first disabled veteran to compete in a NASCAR national series race.

    Early Life and Background

Keith Edward McGee was born on May 7, 1981, in Truckee, California, and grew up in Nevada County, California, where he was the youngest of seven children in his family. His grandfather worked on and built racecars for drivers along the west coast of the United States, and that family connection helped spark an early love of motorsports.

McGee and his father, who drove in the Factory Polaris ranks, regularly watched NASCAR races on television and attended local Sprint car events together. His mother made history as a competitor in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, where she won a gold medal after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis earlier in life and being told she would never walk again. She is also a cancer survivor, which is why McGee frequently displays Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons on his cars and has run with a pink car number to show his support.

    Path to NASCAR

As a child, McGee was interested in racing, but his path split between pursuing professional snowboarding and joining the military, and he ultimately chose military service. He moved from California to Alaska in 2005 while serving and spent eight years in the United States Air Force beginning in 2001 before settling permanently in Alaska after his enlistment ended.

He launched his racing career at age 35 when a go-kart facility opened near his hometown of Eagle River, Alaska. In 2017, he entered 115 local go-kart events and scored 78 wins, then swept every race on his way to the inaugural Extreme Racing League championship. The following year, he stepped up to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Alaska Raceway Park, finished second in points, and added a Pro Grand National Series title to his résumé.

    Keith McGee Career

    Early Career (2018-2019)

McGee made his NASCAR national-level debut in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at the 2018 season finale at Kern County Raceway Park, where he drove the No. 39 for Patriot Motorsports Group. A clutch problem forced him out of the event early, but the appearance officially launched his stock car career.

In 2019, McGee opened his season at Douglas County Speedway in Oregon in the No. 37 and finished eleventh. He then earned his first top-10 in only his third West Series start at Meridian Speedway in Idaho, building momentum that would set the stage for his move into ARCA and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Breakthrough (2021)

After planned Truck Series debuts at Talladega were postponed, Reaume Brothers Racing announced in January 2021 that McGee would make his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start at Richmond. He also expanded his schedule during the year, driving the No. 3 for Jordan Anderson Racing at Charlotte with Barstool Sports as his sponsor, and later the No. 49 CMI Motorsports Ford at the Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200.

His most memorable 2021 run came at Talladega Superspeedway, where he was one of only five trucks to finish clean, led a lap, and ran inside the top fifteen for the final twenty laps before a last-lap scramble dropped him to tenth. That finish marked his best result of the season and announced his arrival as a competitive Truck Series driver.

    Reaume Brothers Racing Era (2023-Present)

On November 11, 2023, Reaume Brothers Racing announced that McGee would return to the team in 2024, driving the No. 27 at Daytona, Las Vegas, Texas, Charlotte, Richmond, and Phoenix. The program extended his part-time Truck Series schedule and reconnected him with the organization that first signed him.

On October 4, 2024, McGee attempted to qualify the No. 02 for Young’s Motorsports in a technical partnership with Reaume Brothers Racing, running a Ford instead of the team’s usual Chevrolet. After failing to qualify, he stepped into the No. 28 FDNY Racing Chevrolet, replacing Bryan Dauzat. He continues to be listed with Reaume Brothers Racing and most recently drove the Nos. 2 and 22 Ford F-150 trucks for the team.

    Driving Style and Strengths

McGee has shown a knack for restrictor-plate racing, surviving the chaos at Talladega to record a clean top-ten finish in only his third Truck Series start. His late-model short-track background in Alaska, combined with disciplined race craft, has helped him adapt quickly to the drafting and pack-style racing demanded by superspeedways.

    Notable Races and Milestones

His Talladega performance in 2021 stands as his signature Truck Series moment, and his 2018 Kern County Raceway Park start remains a milestone as his first NASCAR national-level appearance. His history-making status as the first Alaskan and first disabled veteran to compete in a NASCAR national series race gives every entry additional significance.

    Keith McGee Career Wins

McGee’s verified victories sit primarily in his grassroots development years rather than in NASCAR’s top national touring divisions. His championship-level success came in go-kart and short-track competition, and he has yet to record a victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series or ARCA Menards Series.

    NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Highlights

McGee’s best NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series finish remains the tenth place result he scored at Talladega Superspeedway in 2021. He has made multiple starts for Reaume Brothers Racing, Jordan Anderson Racing, CMI Motorsports, and FDNY Racing across his part-time Truck Series career.

    Other Wins and Performances

Beyond Trucks, McGee captured the inaugural Extreme Racing League go-kart championship and the Pro Grand National Series title in 2018 while running second in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series standings at Alaska Raceway Park. He also earned his first ARCA Menards Series West top-ten at Meridian Speedway in 2019.

    Keith McGee Family

    Family Background and Racing Lineage

Racing runs deep in McGee’s family tree. His grandfather built and worked on racecars for west coast drivers, and his father competed as a driver in the Factory Polaris ranks. The family regularly watched NASCAR on television together and attended local Sprint car events, giving McGee an early appreciation for the sport.

    Personal Life

McGee moved from California to Alaska in 2005 while serving in the Air Force and chose to remain there after completing his military service, working as a RADAR specialist for the U.S. Department of Defense. His mother, a Winter Olympics gold medalist and cancer survivor, has inspired his ongoing support of breast cancer awareness through ribbon decals and pink car numbers.

    2025 Season Performance

McGee is not confirmed for a full NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule in 2025, with his most recent verified starts coming in 2024 with Reaume Brothers Racing and Young’s Motorsports. His career trajectory suggests he will continue seeking sponsorship to expand his part-time Truck Series program and add additional superspeedway races to his calendar.

Given his past results at restrictor-plate tracks like Talladega and his ongoing relationship with Reaume Brothers Racing, McGee is likely targeting events such as Daytona and Talladega if funding can be secured. Any 2025 schedule is expected to be announced on a race-by-race basis, consistent with his part-time model in prior seasons.

Longer term, McGee has expressed interest in running more frequent ARCA Menards Series and Truck Series dates as his sponsorship picture develops. His unique status as the first Alaskan and first disabled veteran to race in a NASCAR national series continues to attract partner interest and media attention around each of his starts.
