Marin Čilić is a Croatian professional tennis player born on 28 September 1988 in Medjugorje, then part of the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Early Life and Background
Marin Čilić was born in Medjugorje, in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Bosnian Croat parents who raised him as a Catholic. His father, Zdenko Čilić, was determined that his sons, including older brothers Vinko and Goran, would have the opportunities he lacked in sports.
